Cookie Policy
1. General Information
In this section, we provide the User with an overview of what cookies are, their function, and the types that exist.
What are cookies?
Cookies and similar mechanisms (such as pixels, web bugs, etc.) are small text or image files that are installed on the user's browser when accessing an online service. These technologies allow, among other purposes, the storage and retrieval of information about the user, their browser, their devices, and the activity carried out on the service to which they connect.
What types of cookies exist?
There are several categories of cookies. Below we present a classification of them, although this does not imply that Volto Drive necessarily uses all the types described here:
a) According to the entity that manages them:
First-party cookies: These are sent to the user's device from equipment or a domain managed by the service provider itself (in this case, Volto Drive).
Third-party cookies: These are sent to the user's device from equipment or a domain not managed by the service provider, but by a third-party entity that will process the data obtained through these cookies.
b) According to retention period:
Session cookies: Designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a service, disappearing as soon as the user ends the session or closes the browser.
Persistent cookies: These are cookies whose data remains stored on the device for a period defined by the cookie controller. This period can range from a few minutes to several years, allowing parameters to be retrieved whenever the user returns to the service.
c) According to purpose:
Technical cookies: These are strictly necessary for the correct functioning of the website and the use of the different options or services available. They include, for example, traffic control, session management, response times, the use of security elements, etc.
Personalisation cookies: Allow the user to access the service with certain predefined characteristics based on a series of criteria on their device, such as language, regional configuration, or browser type.
Analytical cookies: Allow the number of users to be quantified and the statistical measurement and analysis of the use made by users of the service to be carried out. They are used to analyse browsing in order to improve the offer of products or services (e.g. knowing which geographical areas have the most users or which products are most visited).
Advertising cookies: Enable the effective management of any advertising spaces that exist on the service.
Behavioural advertising cookies: Store information about user behaviour, obtained through the continuous observation of their browsing habits, which makes it possible to develop a specific profile in order to display personalised advertising based on it.
d) Other tracking technologies:
Pixels, web bugs or trackers: Also known as beacons, these are tiny transparent images (usually 1x1 pixel) embedded on the website to measure activity. When the page loads, the image also loads, allowing this data to be recorded and the path of a specific IP to be tracked.
HTML5 storage: Uses the capabilities of HTML5 technology to save parameters in the browser that help identify the device.
Local Shared Objects (LSOs): Known as "flash cookies", these store information without using traditional cookies, relying on Adobe Flash Player technology.
Etags: A mechanism of the HTTP protocol that validates the browser's cache. It is mainly used to save bandwidth (avoiding duplicate downloads), but can be used to recognise the browser.
Canvas fingerprinting: Generates a unique "fingerprint" based on the way the browser renders graphics, using HTML5 to identify the device.
Font detection: Identifies the font configuration of the computer to create a unique identification.
Browser cache: Storage of information in the cache memory for identification purposes.
WebGL: Takes advantage of the 3D rendering capabilities of modern browsers to obtain a unique identification based on the configuration of the graphics card and hardware.
2. Specific Information
Who is responsible for this service?
This website and service are the responsibility of Volto Drive (legal name of the company: Volto Drive, Lda, Tax ID No.: 518673324).
Which technologies do we use?
Detailed information about the type of cookies, their purpose, persistence time, and providers is available in our cookie configuration panel (the pop-up that appears when you enter the site). By clicking on "more details" or "configure", you will be able to consult all the granular information.
The information collected through third-party cookies may be stored on the servers of our providers (indicated in the configuration panel), which may be located outside the European Union, notably in the United States. We inform you that these providers offer adequate data protection guarantees, either through their adherence to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework — which attests to an adequate level of protection according to the European Commission — or through the signing of the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
We recommend reading the privacy policies of these providers or social networks for more details on data processing outside the EU.
How to disable or delete cookies?
When accessing our website for the first time, the user will be shown a cookie notice (banner) informing them how they can give or refuse their consent.
If the user has given consent, they may withdraw it at any time by disabling or deleting cookies through their browser settings.
Important note: If you choose to refuse or delete cookies, we will not be able to maintain your preferences and some functionalities of the website may not be operational. Furthermore, each time you return to the service, you will be considered a new user and authorisation will be requested again.

How does the use of cookies affect the protection of my personal data?
Most cookies collect anonymous information that does not allow the user to be directly identified. However, certain codes can single out the browser of your device, so personal data protection regulations may apply.
The information obtained will be processed for the purposes set out in this Policy. Likewise, this information will be processed by the third-party companies that provide the cookies, in accordance with their own privacy policies.
Since these codes, in isolation, often do not allow direct identification of the User, the rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction or portability (recognised by the GDPR) may not be applicable, unless the User is able to provide additional information that allows their identity to be linked to the cookies' identifying codes.
If you consider that your data protection rights have been violated, you may lodge a complaint with the national supervisory authority, the National Data Protection Commission (CNPD) (www.cnpd.pt).
